Question 39 of The Never-Ending Book asks "What happens when you fail algebra?" with answer options "cry to sleep", "sophomore", "convex hull" and "death".
Now, failing algebra may be deathly, but at the same time, it might make you cry yourself to sleep. Neither of those is correct, of course. The answer is "sophomore", because it's a pun on "suffer more", which you would certainly do if you fail algebra.
